Wollongong is an industrial city located on the eastern coast of Australia in the state of New South Wales. It is 82km south of Sydney and approximately a 45 minute drive. It is situated in a part of the NSW South Coast known as the Illawarra. Whilst the city is nicknamed "The Gong", the actual name Wollongong is of Aboriginal origin and is said to mean "five islands", as five islands can be seen from the Wollongong coastline, the largest of which is called 'Gang-man-gang'.
